WATER SHORTAGES ACROSS MANGAUNG – DECADES OF NEGLECT! 💧

Once again, the Metro is playing “musical chairs” with water supply, cutting water without warning in one suburb to divert it elsewhere. Some areas are left without water for days, while residents are kept in the dark.
Last week, the Municipal Manager finally admitted that our water crisis is the result of "decades of neglect." Yet, despite years of water studies recommending urgent upgrades, refurbishment, and maintenance, the ANC-led municipality refuses to prioritise the necessary budget and implementation.
🔹 The DA urges residents to prepare by storing at least a week’s supply of water for basic needs.
🔹 Do not rely on water trucks or tanks, as the Metro lacks the capacity to meet demand.
The Municipal Manager and responsible MMC have been alerted, but no action has been taken. This 25-year-old crisis continues to escalate, with no real solutions in sight. The DA will keep fighting for accountability and sustainable water infrastructure for Mangaung!

WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTIONS IN MANGAUNG METRO
Residents of Mangaung Metro are hereby notified of water supply interruptions due to high turbidity at the Welbedachl Dam; the water is abstracted for potable supply.
In response to these challenges, enhanced chemical augmentation has been implemented to address emerging contaminants and maintain water quality.
However, due to the impact of these parameters on treatment capacity, certain parts of the City may be affected by water supply interruptions and water quality variations.
The following areas may be affected:
Rocklands Pellessier Wepener Dewetsdorp Phahameng,Groenvlei, Universitas & Ridge,
Bochabela Phelindaba Polar Park , Vista Park, Spitskop
Hamilton Industrial area
